Optimize Hard Drive
There are two tasks that you can
perform to optimize your hard drive's performance:
Error Checking &
Disk Defragmenter.
Error Checking
is a program built into
Windows XP. The same program was known as Scan Disk
in Windows 95, 98, Me
and 2000. This program analyzes the physical attributes of your hard
drive
and marks any area that is not able to store data.
Assuring that your computer will never place data
in these corrupt areas.
Disk Defragmenter is a program built into most versions of Windows
that reorganizes your data in
an efficient manner. Thus,
reducing the time it takes your hard drive to access your files.

Improve Boot Time
When your computer is first turned on it's
possible for numerous programs to start up in the background
in an attempt
to make
themselves more readily available to you should you decide to run them. Each
program in this state is using some of your
computer's available resources. If a computer has several
programs starting like this it's possible that a significant
amount of your computer's resources are being
used and so are unavailable for you to accomplish the tasks you wish to.
By stopping these programs
from starting automatically when your computer starts up you will be freeing those resources
which
will translate into an appreciable increase in the performance of your computer.
There is a utility called System Configuration in Windows 98, Me and XP, that allows you to configure which
programs you wish to run
when your computer boots up. Run these aforementioned programs to
Tune-Up your computer. If you continue
to experience problems with your computer or have any questions,
